It was a cool breezy morning, smelling of tomato vines — that special fragrance they get as the tomatoes begin to ripen.
I'd gotten up at dawn to water the vegetables growing in containers. After tending the plants I brought out pots of coffee and mugs to share with anyone stopping by.
A neighbor sat reading a magazine and chatting. A friend parked her car and joined us. We visited and laughed with people walking by.
